This project came about during one of the toughest times in my life. I was broken up from the girl I loved more than anything or anyone. I was drinking everyday and I was at a point in my life where nothing mattered to me anymore. I distanced myself from everyone and isolated myself from everything. It was during this time where I started to write down lyrics that related to my life. Alfredo Grey was born.

After some time facing my inner demons, and trying to overcome certain aspect in my life, I started to move on. Shades of Grey was created from the realization that I got through a really tough moment in my life and I wanted people to know that it is possible to overcome those feelings.

Shades of Grey, is a story. It’s a story about going through a really intricate break up, both spiritually and emotionally. It’s about holding yourself responsible for the break up and losing all hope, in anything and everything that has ever mattered to you. It’s a story about a guy trying to live with the heartache and the memories of the girl he loves.

Each track on the mixtape is a chapter. One by one, the chapters possess a different message that I wanted to get across. Shades of Grey is a Dark, Sad, Emotional, Honest and Real collection of lyrics that were written in one of the toughest times in my life. I am putting the words of my journal out in the open for everyone to read. I will admit that during the recording process I was a little scared to release this project. However, after listening to it over and over again, I am genuinely proud of it. I believe the most important thing for me as a song writer are the lyrics, and I think I did a good job in conveying the truth.

Shades of Grey contains really dark and honest lyrics, but the message I want people to get from it is that time does heal and that you can get through anything because where there is shadow, light isn’t too far away. I hope to spark a few visions while listening to it.
